The Namibian Dolphin Project | Outreach Programme

Outreach Programme, Bringing the oceans to the people

The Community Outreach Programme is focused on bringing our work into the public realm through several different approaches including talks, media articles, information boards and our Environmental Office

Since 2012, we have run a small Environmental Office at the Walvis Bay Waterfront where people can come in and meet the team, learn more about Namibia’s marine life through our displays and exhibitions and tell us of interesting sightings they might have made.

We give public talks about or working to share with people the latest available information we have. Some of these talks we organise ourselves (especially in Walvis Bay), some are invited (such as at the Nedbank Go Green event) and some are hosted by other groups , such as TOSCO, Namibia’s Responsible Travel Community) and Gobabeb.  We’re always happy to talk about our work and marine conservation, so please get in touch if you’d like us to give a talk at your function or  location.

As often as possible we visit schools to given talks and demos, get involved with marine trips and get groups into our Environmental Office.

We update the local media with interesting findings and events, especially about whale and dolphin strandings.

In 2014, we’re having a big Marine Education Open Day at  our offices at the Waterfront where the whole community is welcome to join in.
